This is common question and here is my response:

If you get waxed on a regular basis (once a month or at least every 6 to 8 weeks) and you have no sensitivity or break outs from it then yes, go ahead and get waxed the week before your wedding.

I always strongly recommend to Brides that they never do any thing NEW, which means if you are not a regular waxer then I would hold off in trying it till after the wedding or honey moon. I also always recommenced no new anything, so if you are not doing it regularly or have never done it before please don’t try it right before your wedding! This would include: spray tanning, facials or peels, new products, etc.

Ways to look Younger when Wearing Makeup

Primer/Moisturizer

Use a primer or Moisturizer, you need extra hydration as you get older and the primer/moisturizer under your foundation or mixed in to it will give you a more hydrated dewy look.

Foundation — best match possible

Please have the right color foundation on. Sometimes we have two shades during the year: a summer and winter. But make sure you check the foundation on the jaw line in natural light before you buy it.  Also–sometime you may need to buy 2 colors and blend them (no biggies, it will last you twice as long, its like having two cleansers).

Loose Vrs. Pressed Powder

Loose powder is better for mature skin, it does not enhance fine lines. However the exception is its okay to have a on the go powder compact for your purse, just stay away from the eyes when doing your touch ups. Also, less is more with powder and don’t apply too much (use minimal around the eyes). I like loose mineral powder with a little bit of shimmer to it for mature skin (note–do not wear this kind of powder if its humid/hot or if you are doing photos. The shimmer will look sweaty in photos, however in real life it gives the skin a very lovely healthy glow).

Eye Shadow

If you are wearing three eye shadows going for the three tired look (brow bone, contour and lid) then only one of the three can have shimmer in it. The other two must be matte. And if you are not sure then get all of your eye shadows in matte colors. The particles of the shimmer eye shadow can accentuate your fine lines around the eyes. Also, go light on eye shadow, don’t over do it.

Eyes

I love a filled in brow, gives you definition, and a lash tint/brow tint if your getting space or lighter colored hairs. Eye liner (not too much) is great too, and I like softer colors like: Coffee, Plumb, Gray.

Lips

Fill in lips with a lip liner, or use a color stay lipstick. Use some gloss or hydrating lipstick to keep your lips dewy and moist. Dont get in a lipstick rut and use the same colors for eons…try new shades. Every gal should have at least 5 lip colors to choose from. Day look, night, vacation, weekend wear….

Are you a bride who is interested in doing her own makeup the day of the wedding? Are you a makeup artist starting out? Are you just interested in learning how to do a basic makeup application on your self? Here are the steps I recommend for Makeup Application.

Start by having a squeaky clean face
Have a clean face, its best to have a clean canvas to work on, your makeup will look better and not cling to dead skin cells. Plus by starting our clean you will not have to spend time trying to clean up or cover left over makeup.

Prepping the skin
Cleanse & Scrub:
Make sure you : cleanse, scrub, then use a light weigh oil free moist, or gel, then sunscreen. I prefer a water base matte SPF 30 sunscreen, which also acts as a primer for the foundation.

Dry Lips:
You might also need to: exfoliate the lips with a sugar scrub or lip exfoliation product. Then hydrate with a lip balm.

Eye Cream:
Mature skin or fine lines around the eyes:
Its important to use a Eye cream to help plump up the skin around the eyes if the person has fine lines. I use a eye cream or eye gel around the eye more than not.

Makeup Application Steps
1.    Cleanse and prep the skin. Make sure all residue of eye makeup (including last nights mascara is off the eye) clean palate to start with is important.
2.    Clean up eye brows: Tweeze, wax and/or trim brows (see eye brow theory video)
3.    Foundation, then highlight
4.    Concelear & set foundation with a loose powder
5.    Eye shadow base application (see eye shadow base video lesson)
6.    Eye shadow-lid
7.    Eye shadow-brow bone
8.    Eye liner, top & bottom
9.    Eye shadow-contour
10.    Fill in eye brows & set eyes with powder
11.    Blush (usually two blush colors and/or a bronzing powder)
12.    Bronzer and/or contour powder
13.    Set entire face with loose powder
14.    Curl lashes
15.    False eye lash application
16.    Mascara, bottom lashes, then top (let dry then second coat)
17.    Lips (liner, lipstick, gloss)

Take photos of the Makeup-inside and out side so you can see what it looks like on Camera.

What should you expect at your preview appointment (a.k.a. “your trail run”)?
Expect:
* to spend 2-3 hours with your stylist. If you feel rushed during a preview, the stylist is not for you. Make sure you choose someone who is meticulous and patient!
* In depth discussion about your desired “look,” your style in general, and yoru wedding day event.
* Your artist to work with you using photos to create your “look.”
* to have fun! This is an opportunity for you to try different styles and makeup shades to ensure you are comfortable with both and are excited about how you will look on your wedding day.
* To take lots of photos of your hair and makeup- both inside and outside.
* to have an opportunity to purchase makeup for the big day. You will be kissing your groom, hugging family, sweating, etc. which can take its toll on makeup. Reapplication will be crucial to maintaining your “look!” Many makeup artists will suggest you buy a foundation compact to match your foundation color.
What happens after the preview?
* You may want to show close friends or family the pictures to get feedback.
* Notice how long your hair and makeup hold up as the day passes. They should last 8-10 hours. If you had curls or tendrils, how did they relax or fall after the preview?
* Consider your lip color choice. Does it look good in the photos? Did it show up well?
* Do you feel comfortable in your hair and makeup? You should still feel like you.
* Note any changes you want to make to your look before the big day.
